Volunteering with the First Nations Homelessness Project

Many thanks and much respect for considering becoming a volunteer with The First Nations Homelessness Project. Volunteers are an essential component of our mission which comprises supporting and improving the lives of First Nations families at risk of homelessness and/or child removal within Perth, Western Australia. Volunteering with us is a powerful and direct way to contribute to Closing the Gap efforts, get some exercise, make new friends, and if not First Nations yourself – increase your Cultural Awareness. Over the years volunteers have commented that they have benefited from volunteering with FNHP as much as our clients have benefited from the support volunteers provide.

In order to stabilise their tenancies and therefore family life, most of our clients require support to meet property standards expectations of their Housing Providers. The tasks set for FNHP volunteers during our eviction prevention busy bees therefore include loading bulk rubbish onto our truck/trailers for tipping, deep cleaning of inside these homes, yard work, and on occasion simple household repairs. Where necessary all tools, equipment and training will be provided in order for you to perform these tasks well.

Full induction and assistance will be provided by our supportive staff.
